Fredericksburg TX
Here is the bucolic view of the Guadalupe River from the campsite this morning, as we dawdled packing up.
Dawdled in my case because I was taking this very easy day (only 35 miles to Fredericksburg) off, to ride in the van with Beth Ann. Dave also took the van, as he has for the past few days, diagnosed with walking pneumonia. He was finally able to get medicine yesterday. We first stopped at Starbucks then a bike shop at long last, where Matt was once again having work done on his temperamental machine. I bought new bike shorts, since my ancient ones are pretty well worn out. They only had a size medium, which proved to be very tight when I tried them on in camp. May just keep them in reserve until necessary. Then onto today's route, small narrow ranch roads that looked more like driveways. Nice rolling terrain, which everyone else had fun riding. To Fredericksburg and a very nice RV park, real grass, nice facilities (pool and hot tub), just tenting too close to busy road. I was too busy relaxing and then food shopping and prepping dinner to do the pool or hot tub. The menu you ask? Same as ever, cheesey scrambled eggs and hash browns, while Donna made a fabulously dense salad (corn, beans, avocado, spinach, etc ), and two kinds of chocolate cake for dessert: triple chocolate and Guinness Stout chocolate Bundt cakes -- lots of Germans settled in this part of TX.
Knee feels ok I guess, no stress or strain, walked a bit to keep it loose, applying the THC/CBD lotion and working it in seems to help. No reaction to booster shot other than sore arm, so I expect to ride tomorrow, 41 miles to Johnson City (as in LBJ and Lady Bird)
I have finally caught up on your adventure. You are truly amazing. There was something on NPR about people who purposely endure pain (marathons, etc.). You qualify. I envy you although there is no way I could ever do what you do. Enjoy Austin. Be well.
